I live in Islington with my partner and our 3 Dalmatians Billy, Hector and Peggy and our Persian cat Missy.
I grew up in southern Ontario Canada where every summer was spent on my grandparent’s farm in Niagara on the Lake. Spending summers on the farm allowed me to get a wonderful love and respect for animals. We had dogs my whole life and I have had Dalmatians in my life now for 16 years, Billy being the oldest and travelling all the way from Canada to be with me. |

I grew up on a farm surrounded by pets as well as farm animals. From when I was a few years old until I turned 18 and moved out from home I had many different types of pets: from fish, canary birds and budges to rabbits, cats and dogs as well as looking after farm animals, such as chickens, cows and pigs. My pets are what I miss most since coming to London almost 6 years ago, as I never got a chance to get a pet here due to my commitments to work and studies. Therefore I love helping out my brother and friends to look after their pets when I get a chance.
I have worked as a dental nurse for 4.5 years before commencing adult nursing studies in September 2007 at King’s College London. I have a caring personality, which I am sure your beloved pets will appreciate. I understand how difficult it is to go away leaving your pet behind, however with me caring for them you can put your mind at ease knowing that your pet will receive all the attention and love it deserves. |

I
have lived in North London for most of my life around the areas
of Muswell Hill and Potters Bar, but since the early 90’s
I have lived in Palmers Green with my husband and two children who
are 12 and 14. Whilst growing up we always had many pets, mainly
cats and dogs, but also rabbits, hamsters and budgies, they have
always been a big part of my life.
For five years I was an animal nurse at the RSPCA Hospital in Holloway
(made famous by Rolf Harris) and I also worked in a veterinary practice
in Devon. I then worked as a police officer for thirteen years.
Since leaving I the police I have often looked after friends cats
and dogs and had them staying with us when they are on holiday and
a couple of years ago I puppy walked a Labrador for the Guide Dog
Association which was great fun but difficult to give her back as
we had all become so attached to her. At the moment I have my own 8-year-old black lab
Holly who loves long walks anywhere!
I have plenty of time to give, and looking forward to looking
after other people’s pets and walking other dogs with Holly. |

After
many years of toying with my dream of working with animals I finally
resigned from my city job in November 2002. Although having had
many years experience of caring for my own and friends pets I still
felt the need to gain experience in the pet care industry and therefore
trained in a grooming shop for 7 months before going ahead and setting
up on my own. A lot of hard work and long hours but it is all well
worth it and I am very lucky to have an awesome support network
of family, friends and colleagues all over the pet industry.
Since the age of 6 I have owned a variety of pet's including - fish,
guinea pigs, rabbit, canary birds, cat and dog and have also always
been happy to help friends and family with looking after their pets
over weekends and holidays, giving me a great appreciation of the
responsibility involved with looking after other peoples pets. I
was 16 when my beloved dog Amigo entered my life. Throughout Amigo's
long life I read a large variety of books on canine behavior and
training as well as taking part in training classes and shows. I,
as probably many pet owners, would at times have problems when going
on holiday as friends and family would not always be able to help
and I remember how heartbreaking it was for me (and I believe) Amigo
to have to put him in.
It is with this in mind and because I believe the dog walking and
pet sitting industry often leaves a lot to be desired in terms of
professionalism and safety, I have decided to take up the career
of being a pet minder. I want to help others feel happy and safe
in the knowledge that their beloved pet is looked after with all
the love and attention it deserves and my reward; I get to spend
all my time with wonderful furry friends it just doesn't’t
get any better than that. |

I work in the field of counseling and psychotherapy. I find my work incredibly rewarding but it can be difficult at times. I find being with animals an ideal antidote to the stress of city life.
I have always had a strong affinity with animals and if I had the space and my housemates allowed it, I would love to keep a dog or a cat in my home. Regrettably this is not possible, but I do have a sweet hamster, Mary. She is active and funny with a unique little character - I love her so much.
As well as caring for animals I enjoy photography, art, film, reading, writing and running. |

Animals have always been important to me: my first word was zoo! I’ve always spent lots of time watching wildlife, have learnt to ride, nursed sick and orphaned wild birds and of course socialized with as many dogs and cats as possible. As a kid we lived by a small lake and had lots of pets, including guinea pigs, gerbils, a canary and ducks, which I used to round up and bring in for the night using a canoe.
When I moved to London 18 years ago I adopted two gorgeous playful kittens. Sadly Bea was pts due to kidney and thyroid disease last year at the age of 17. I still miss her so much. Lizzie is still with me. She now has multiple health problems, including a bad heart and partial sight, so doesn’t ‘do’ ‘active’ these days. I wasn’t sure how she’d be with other animals, but when I brought home a chicken I’d found wandering in a local park she was interested, but not enough to get up… Visiting small pets are not let out of their cages when she’s in the room, and are kept in a separate room when I’m not around to make sure there’s no teasing on either side!
I’ve worked as a volunteer in a children’s hospital play centre and as a domestic in old peoples homes. At the moment I work from home writing for a website. I keep fit training for and running marathons for charity.
I can’t have as many animals as I’d like right now. I’d like loads! So I spend as much time as possible with other peoples. I would love to spend some time caring for yours, whether they are young tearaways or lovely oldies.
(PS: the chicken was handed over to the RSPCA, and I believe went to a wildlife sanctuary)

I’ve been a pet carer with Furry World since 2005 when I gave up my 9-5 to go back to University and rediscover my brain and I haven’t looked back. I now work as a freelance writer and administrator with flexible hours so looking after pets in my area while their families are away is an ideal addition to my varied work portfolio.
My family always had cats and I’ve adored animals as long I can remember. When I moved to London to study I missed the moggies, so began volunteering at Cats Protection in Archway and eventually, became a foster carer. Over an 18 month period I cared for more than 35 cats and kittens in my own home, including mums with litters and the odd feral! The cats were often on medication, or needed special care and attention and I learned an enormous amount about feline behaviour and care through the experience. It was especially rewarding when the cats found their new, permanent homes. Inevitably, I fell head over heels in love with a pair of kittens in my care and adopted Stella and Cardigan in 2003 and that put an end to my fostering.
Thankfully, they’ve learned to live with the fact that our house and garden sometimes get invaded by dogs or small pets on vacation and take it in their stride. Sometimes they look a bit bemused when I come home covered in other cats’ fur or smelling of dog but so far, they’ve always forgiven me.

| I have always
loved animals and having been brought up in the Lancashire countryside
they played an important part of my life whilst growing up. I come
from a family who have always worked with animals and as a result
I learnt how to respect them from a very early age. My first pet
was a dog called Roley who I loved dearly and as I child I also
kept birds (cockatiels), terrapins, Ferrets, rabbits, Guinnea pigs,
snakes, cats, goats…..the list goes on!! My parents made it
clear that I was responsible for the welfare of these animals, and
made sure I learnt how to care for them every day as well as love
them. Since moving to London 14 years ago I have not
been able to have pets due to work commitments. Until last year
I worked as a service manager in the social care field which I
enjoyed as it allowed me to interact with vulnerable people and
help them to reach their life goals. Last year however I was able
to give this up to focus on my other career as a freelance illustrator.
For the first time in my life I am able to work from home. A huge
luxury! This leaves me with time on my hands and I instantly thought
about working with animals. Although I have a goldfish who I have
had for eight years I love to spend time with larger animals.
Working with Charlie and the team gives me an opportunity to do
this and I couldn’t be happier! |

I have lived in London for 13 years moving here from a small village in Nottinghamshire. Looking back I feel blessed that I was able to live so closely with nature and the wildlife that lives there.
As a young girl I kept gerbils and hampsers and then I had ziggy a guinea pig with a Mohawk! We housed many a straggler in our home from a bird we named boo boo who one day hit our window, knocked herself out and didn't leave us for months, finding worms was an arduous task I undertook with verve, we also kept chickens for w few years until we had to move and no longer had the space, I am happy to report our neighbor took them on - Burt, Shelia and Manfreda lived out their lives on their paddock.
I used to ride horses also as a friend of mine had stables, i would help muck out and feed dizzy a palamino and weders who had the more temperamental disposition. I looked after my friends daughters rabbits last year while she was on her honey moon and have had the pleasure of having Mary another friends hampster come stay with me.
Since moving to London I really miss having animals in my life and have joined A furry world as an opportunity to have closer contact with our furry friends. My own pet at the moment isn't furry even so I get a lot of pleasure looking after him - Beany my two year old corn snake - I do however miss our warm blooded kin. |

Murray
has been with A Furry World from day one helping in all aspects
of the set up and running the business.
Murray
came to England just over 4 years ago and has alongside of working
as a Network Engineer been spending time traveling Europe; he
has now settled down in Islington in a garden flat and loves having
animals around.
Since
his very first days animals have surrounded Murray. When he was
born there was Sooty the black cat and Topper the charming corgi,
both of which were his best mates until well into his teens. Since
then there have been a variable chorus of animals in the house;
Benji the rescue corgi and his sisters bull terror Trooper being
the most notable.
Alongside
these more traditional of pets have been his collections of small
critters; his lizards and praying mantis’s kept his mother
on her toes whenever she was tending her jungle of house plants...
MURRAY!!!
Since
coming to England Murray has missed the animal company and he
is very happy to have them back in his life.

I just love animals. I grew up in Australia and was lucky enough to have dogs around me all my life - Golden Cocker Spaniel Tara (nutter), Golden Retriever Mishka (escape artist), Husky Tinka (cheeky princess), Lab-Kelpie Angel (incredible girl) and many fine hounds whom I consider good buddies. Angel and I underwent an extensive convalescence period after she severely broke her back leg; during which time we both learned a lot of sensitivity and patience. Amongst other pets have been a rabbit, chicken, cat, fish and a rat. All brilliant creatures. Ratty the gorgeous little man loved having porridge with me on the breakfast table and hiding under my hair. I’ve also spent time on animal farms around England in the last year. I love animals enough that I’ve been vegan for five years; I believe every creature’s life should be respected and nurtured.
I am a comic and actor and astrologer. Since I stopped touring shows I can devote plenty of time to hanging out with the animals I have missed so much since moving to London. I communicate well and always stay attentive to their needs, ensuring them care, affection and loads of fun. I respect their routines and commands - I learned some Finnish and Hebrew to communicate with foreign dogs under my care. And it’s constantly fascinating observing the subtle personalities of our smaller friends.
I always look forward to forming good relationships with new critters and you are guaranteed they’ll have a new buddy with me. |

Since I was a little girl I have been around pets. I just can't picture a life without them. There has always been some kind of connection between them and me. I had many cats, gerbils, rats, a ferret and a dog. My last little pets were gerbils and I dearly miss them, standing on their back paws and sniffing around!
I have now been a Pet Carer for several months and I have never been happier. I feel like my life makes more sense. I bring happiness everyday!
My husband, Nick, picked up on the vibe, and has now been welcomed as part of the team. Nick comes from a family of pet lovers. He’s been surrounded by rabbits and hamsters and all sorts of furry critters since he was a baby. He adores animals as much as me, and is so happy to spend his days looking after them.
Now, the more, the merrier, our furry little friends are more than welcomed at our place (where they are safe away from the cats!). |

We are both animal lovers – I grew up with a Cairn Terrier and have been hankering after one ever since. My best friends has a rescue cat who I speak to on the phone regularly – embarrassing when I’m on the bus ;-) Ross grew up with several cats at home and is always a big hit with all the cats he visits.
Living in a flat, we don’t feel we the space for a pet of our own right now but we have both enjoyed helping friends and family look after their pets and therefore got very excited about the opportunity to look after even more ‘furries’ and we really enjoy both visiting and hosting cats and dogs.
We generally cycle to visits, but also have a car so won’t be put off by pouring rain or thunderstorms! |

I have cared for pets in 3 countries: Australia, the US and now the UK. I relish any opportunity for a walk, so have a great deal of fun when dogs take me out for one.
My first love was a long-haired ginger tabby named Ginseng, a real gentleman. I have house-sat for many dogs, cats and birds over the years.
I love getting to know each new personality who comes to visit and of course the cuddles too and I hope to one day settle down long enough to have several pets of my own. |

| I came to London
as a student many years ago and loved it so much, I stayed! Since
then I’ve always lived in North London and have been living
in Stoke Newington since 1993.
Cats have
been a part of my life for as long as I can remember; the first,
an abandoned kitten, setting a pattern for the rest, who have
all been rescued from one situation or another! So when my husband
and I bought our first home together, I felt it wouldn’t
be a real home without a cat and we adopted Cleo from the Cat
Protection League (that’s her in the photo – she’s
a bit camera-shy!). She now very kindly lets us share our home
with her! I’ve
also developed great relationships with friends’ cats, dogs
and rabbits and look after them when their owners are away. Working
from home as a part-time, freelance desktop publisher means I
have lots of free time and I look forward to making and caring
for lots more furry friends. |

| I have been
working as a pet sitter for the last year and have come across many
wonderful animals in that time. It has been an enjoyable and fulfilling
job and has allowed me to put my years of pet ownership to good
use. As a child in the country I always wanted to work with animals
and over the years I have worked in a vets, at a pet rabbit farm
and for three years I worked for the RSPCA taking calls on their
emergency line and volunteering at a shelter. I have dealt with
sick and injured Wildlife and domestic pets and worked on many cruelty
cases with the Inspectors.
Over the years I have had Cats, Dogs, Rabbits,
Guinea-pigs, Gerbils, Hamsters, Snakes, Terrapins, Spiders, Iguana’s,
Lizards, Budgies, Cockatiels and Chinchilla’s. I currently
share my home in Hornsey with my cats Winston and Bo, my Springer
Spaniel Holly and last but by no means least my husband Casie!
Casie has spent the last year welcoming all sorts
of animals into our home and it was only a matter of time before
he joined the team. He grew up in the West Indies surrounded by
a variety of farm animals and his beloved Husky cross ‘Stanford’.
He spent a year working at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and dealt
with reptiles, birds, Lemurs, cows, horses and many other exotic
animals. We are both looking forward to meeting many more
interesting pets in the future |

in North London most of my life, except when I moved to Cheltenham
for a while when I was younger, and had a great job there as a live-in
Carer for two beautiful dogs, one a Samoyed and the other an Alsatian
.When their mum and dad moved abroad, I came back to London because
I missed my Family and the City.
Back in London
I became Homecare for the Elderly, and still do some Homecare
work.
At the moment
my immediate Family consist of my husband Chris a B.T engineer
and my Cat Smudge who I’ve had since she was a kitten, she
is now twenty years old and a real character, I swear she’s
got half a dozen human expressions. She still plays with balls
and I often hear them in the early hours being kicked about. I have always
had animals in my life since childhood, Dogs, Cats, Hamsters,
Rabbits, Birds, Mice and even a Rat.
I feel so lucky to be able to have a job working with all these
little characters and looking forward to looking after them.
If I look after your Pet, you can be sure that I will take as
much care with them as if they were my own. |
The need for professional pet carer's is ever increasing. Being
a pet carer is a demanding but also very rewarding job, it is
not for everyone and not everyone embarking in pet services offers
the safety, professionalism and loving care that we regard as
an absolute most. Setting up as a pet carer requires a great deal
of organisation, training and determination and it can be very
helpful to have the support, backing and credibility of a larger
and already established organisation.
